Artist Biography

Santiago Vidal is a multi award winning pianist and composer who graduated from CAEMSA, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA.


 Between 1999 and 2014, he performed with 19 different pop and jazz bands, in Uruguay, Argentina, Spain and United States.  He played in festivals, on tv shows, in hotels, bars, discos, jazz clubs, at Jazz Festivals, and at Carnivals. He played in Europe for 9 months. He played with Alejandro Sanz on his concert at Berklee College of Music, on the Berklee commencement concert honoring Jimmy Page and Valerie Simpson at Agganis Arena for 7000 people, and he closed the Latin festival with his composition “Nostalgias” at BPC. Santiago played on numerous concerts like CWP concert and Professional Writing and Music Technology Awards Concert at Berklee College of Music .  He also collaborated with Al Joseph’s  “Out in The Open” in 2013.



As a composer, in 2013 with the composition “Crónica de Una decepción”, piano trio, he won the contest Herne Hill Music Festival International Composition Competition in London, England. The same year, with the composition “Nostalgias” , he won the first prize on the contest: “Premios Nacionales de Musica”, organized by the ministry of education and culture, Montevideo, Uruguay.

In the last years he composed the music for 4 short films:
“Klim”: a 3D Animation Comedy,
“Hilos”: a horror film,
“La Mascara”: a drama and
"Tail" a drama.

He just released his first album “Nostalgias”, showing his versatility as a songwriter, and featuring his re-invention of a little known classic Uruguayan style called “Candombe”. Santiago mixes his Latin influences with pop, jazz and funk. The band that joins him throughout the album is features the best musicians of Uruguay: Martin Ibarburu, Nicolas Arnicho, Hugo Fattoruso and Gerardo Alonso.

He presented “Nostalgias” in “Sala Zitarrosa” in Montevideo, Uruguay joined by these musicians in September 2014.

“Nostalgias” is the debut album of Santiago Vidal, a multi award winning pianist and composer who is graduating from Berklee College of Music. This album shows his versatility as a songwriter, and features his re-invention of a little known classic Uruguayan style called “Candombe”.


Santiago mixes his Latin influences with pop, jazz and funk. The band that joins him throughout the album is features the best musicians of Uruguay: Martin Ibarburu, Nicolas Arnicho, Hugo Fattoruso and Gerardo Alonso.

The title song “Nostalgias” was recognized by the Uruguayan National Government in the annual prizes organized by the Ministry of Culture. Santiago’s song won first prize for the best “Candombe” song of Uruguay in 2013.
